Beaujolais is located not far from Lyon. It is a lively and luminous region, famous for its villages built of yellow stone, ochre, which shines with the sun’s rays. The Beaujolais region lies north of Lyon, reaching as far north as the Rhône and Loire regions and north-east of the Loire. It is an ancient French province whose historical capital was Beaujolais and whose modern capital is Villefranche-sur-Saône. Beaujolais wine is a French wine controlled by place of origin (AOC – the highest classification of French wines). This classification covers the entire Beaujolais vineyard and offers true connoisseurs six different varieties of wine, including Beaujolais Nouveau and Beaujolais-Superior.
We have been working in partnership with several family-owned wineries for a long time. The owners will open their doors to you, and they will be delighted to tell you the history of their estates, share their secrets and show you all the stages of wine production. Your visit will end, of course, with a wine tasting.
Winemaking is not the only asset of the Beaujolais region, there are also many splendid places to visit, such as the castle of Bagnolles, the medieval village of Oingt, the castle of Pizay, the castle of Corsel, the castle of Julienne, the castle of Montmélas.
A tour of Beaujolais from Lyon lasts between 4 and 8 hours.
